Publication Ethics
This ethical statement serves as the publication ethics guideline for JEHS, a journal published by CV Buana Prisma Sejahtera. The statement is adapted from the ethical principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics and outlines the ethical responsibilities of the chief editor, editorial board members, reviewers, and authors. The guideline is based on:
Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)
Articles published in JEHS play a significant role as fundamental contributions to the development of a credible and integrated body of knowledge in the field of education. Published works also represent the academic quality of both the authors and their affiliated institutions. Therefore, it is essential to establish clear ethical standards for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the academic community.
The editors of JEHS are committed to ensuring that all editorial procedures are conducted objectively and solely based on intellectual considerations. Furthermore, editors and reviewers evaluate manuscripts without discrimination related to race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, political perspectives, or particular group interests.
Duties of Authors
Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts are original works that have not been previously published elsewhere. Authors are prohibited from submitting manuscripts that are currently under review by JEHS to other journals simultaneously. Publication in another journal is only permitted after the manuscript has been formally rejected or officially withdrawn with the journal’s approval.
Authors must promptly notify the Chief Editor or publisher if significant errors or inaccuracies are identified in their published work so that appropriate corrections or retractions can be issued. In addition, authors are expected to make substantial scholarly contributions and take full responsibility for the content and any shortcomings of their work.
Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest before agreeing to review a manuscript. They may decline review assignments if conflicts of interest exist or if they lack sufficient expertise in the subject area of the manuscript.
During the review process, reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and professionally. They are also expected to report any suspected ethical misconduct to the Chief Editor for further action. Reviewers should ensure the originality of manuscripts and remain vigilant regarding plagiarism and redundant publication.
Reviewers are not permitted to discuss manuscript contents without authorization and must comply with the designated review timeline. Any request for an extension remains subject to the discretion of the Chief Editor.
Duties of Editorial Board Members
Editorial board members are expected to actively contribute to the development and advancement of the journal. They also serve as representatives of the journal in strengthening its academic reputation and continuously supporting and promoting its visibility. Furthermore, editorial board members are responsible for reviewing manuscripts assigned to them.
Duties of the Chief Editor
The Chief Editor is responsible for evaluating manuscripts fairly and exclusively on the basis of their intellectual merit, without influence from non-academic factors. The Chief Editor must also maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and ensure that information related to the publication process is disclosed only to authorized parties involved in the editorial process.
In addition to determining which manuscripts are suitable for publication, the Chief Editor should actively seek feedback from editorial board members, reviewers, and authors to improve the quality, reputation, and visibility of the journal. The Chief Editor must also provide clear guidelines for prospective authors regarding manuscript submission procedures and ensure that qualified reviewers are appropriately selected for the peer-review process.
